My name is Stacy Jameson, and I'm a graduate student at UC Davis. I was referred to Melissa by a couple that had been very pleased and impressed by Melissa's work. I came in for a massage to help cope with lower back pain. As it turned out, I made the appointment at just the right time because in the days before I came in I suffered from a disc extrusion that put pressure on my sciatic nerve, which caused severe pain, numbness, weakness, and limited my movement. The massage gave me an immediate sense of relaxation and less tight feeling all over, and I continued to loosen for a day or two afterwards.
At a time of debilitating pain, the massage given to me by Melissa was most helpful in relaxing my body. When my whole body tensed in response to my lower back, the massage eased the tightness in my back, hips, and legs. When the Doctors / Physical therapists told me there was nothing that I could do to help my condition until the injury subsided, weekly massage helped me get through it.
It was very easy to schedule, and I felt very comfortable and relaxed there. Melissa listened to all my concerns and, as a result, was able to tailor the massage to my individual needs. I was very impressed by her ability to feel and notice my specific target zones. I never felt like she was just going through the motions.
As a student I sit a lot over a computer reading and writing. Massage has changed the way I deal with work stress, and has also impacted the way that I physically deal with this stress. This was my first massage, and now I see it a bit like a professional dental cleaning - every once in a while you need a professional to take the kinks out.
