Pregnancy Massage (90 minutes or more recommended)
If you are having a high risk pregnancy please check with your doctor before coming in for a massage. Melissa has specific training and knowledge of areas which could potentially create labor or other complications.
Massage will ease the pain from the weekly changes your body will endure, decrease the stress created by this life changing event, and will bring balance and help maintain a healthy pregnancy. Body positioning on the table is mostly side-lying or seated depending on how far along you are. Belly massage is only done upon request and otherwise will be fully draped at all times to make you feel safe and secure.
Postpartum massage (90 minutes or more recommended)
Women are welcome to bring their infants in up until they are able to crawl or five months of age. Getting a massage while your baby is snuggled against you can be a very bonding experience. There may be concerns about baby crying, but for the most part, when mommy is calm, baby is calm. Massage will help ease the pain while your body is reshaping, decrease the feeling of fatigue, will aide the process of eliminating hormones released and medications possibly given during birth, and can really lessen the affects of "baby blues", a common depression mothers experience after giving birth. Positioning on the massage table may vary from side lying, to seated, to face up or face down, all depending on the state of the mother.
Therapeutic Relaxation Massage (75 minutes or more recommended) Soft and slow manipulation of the muscles with specific strokes to soothe and relieve areas of tightness, inflammation, and reduce stress on the massage table.
